Manganese Chrome
HF 55 Isoarc MC

Descriptions
ISOARC MC is a rutile coated electrode designed for joining and surfacing 11-14% manganese steels. The deposited weld metal will work harden under impact load to a hardness of 480-590 HV. The electrode is recommended for use in the downhand position.

Applications
ISOARC MC can be used to reclaim worn austenitic manganese parts or as a buffer layer on other grades of steels prior to hardfacing. The deposit is extremely crack resistant and will rapidly work harden , making it ideally suited for welding on railway crossings, dredger buckets, crusher jaws, loader buckets, and other ground engaging equipment.

Hardfacing Welding Electrodes
HF450 - Isoarc HF450

Characteristics
ISOARC HF 450 is a basic coated AC/DC all position electrode, depositing a weld containing chromium, nickel and molybdenum. The weld metal, which comprises metallic carbides in a martinsetic matrix, has a hardness of 420-480HV(43-48HRc). The weld metal provides good resistance to abrasion and impact loads in wet and dry conditions.

Applications
This versatile electrode is suitable for use in applications where frictional loads and metal to metal wear conditions occur. The weld metal is extremely resistant to breakout or spalling, which makes it eminently suitable to use on permanent way crossings, rail ends, excavator bucket lips, tractor drive wheels, etc. The deposit, which is machinable with carbide tipped tools, is also suitable for use as a low cost buffer layer for the deposition of high alloy wear resistant deposits.

Hardfacing Welding Electrodes
E Fe Cr-A1 - Isoarc 438

Characteristics
This electrode is easy to use on AC or DC positive polarity. Bead appearance is good, and deposits are non-heat treatable. Hardness is maintained at elevated temperatures. ISOARC 438 restrikes well. The self releasing slag should be removed after each pass.

Applications
ISOARC 438 is used extensively in the mining, earthmoving, crusher and mineral industries. All parts subject to high wear due to abrasive environments are protected by ISOARC 438

Procedures
Keep the arc short and hold it at approximately 70 degrees to the work piece. Keep deposits to a maximum of three layers. Use ISOARC 168 as a buffer if additional layers are required. Do not weave more than three times the diameter of the electrode.

Structure
Hypereutectic, with chromium hexagonal primary carbides in an Austenitic matrix.

HF60 Fine grained abrasion
Isoarc 443

Characteristics
Easy to use with both AC and DC positive polarity. The specially formulated coating permits good arc control with excellent bead appearance. The slag is easily removed and the high polish of the deposits contributes towards the excellent wear capabilities. Splatter is low. Weld deposits cannot be heat-treated and hardness is maintained up to 600 degrees.

Applications
ISOARC 443 is extensively used in the brick industry for surfacing the mixer blades and screws. Components in mining and mineral industries subject to fine grained materials achieve maximum life by using ISOARC 443.

Procedures
Maintain medium to short arc, holding the electrode in the near vertical position. Pre-heating is normally not required, but very hard steels should be pre-heated to +-200°C. For heavy buildups, use ISOARC 168 for buffer layers. Do not deposit more than three layers of ISOARC 443. Manganese steels should be welded as cold as possible.

Roller Arcing 
Isoarc 453

Characteristics
Easy to use with both AC and DC positive polarity. Hardly any slag remains on the welds which are ideal for multiple layer applications. The high chrome content enables the deposit to withstand corrosion and heat attacks of up to 500°C.

Applications
Specifically designed for applications requiring multi-pass layers and resistance to scouring, ISOARC 453 is widely used in the sugar industry for refurbishing crusher rolls. Also used on grinders, digger parts, paving breakers, clamping jaws, anvils, impeller worms and scraper blades. It is ideal for large area surfacing.

Procedures
Stringer bead or weaving may be used. Medium to short arc recommended to obtain smooth surface finish. An arc length of up to twice the electrode diameter is advisable. Surface cross cracking will occur and is normal with high hardness deposits. Deposits are non-machinable.

Structure
Chrome carbide in a martensitic structure.
