ISOARC 454 is a rutile, coated, hardfacing electrode with good welding properties even when used with AC transformers with a low open circuit voltage. With DC, use positive polarity. The electrode gives a smooth weld deposit; the weld metal is very versatile and is fairly crack resistant. Weld metal is forgeable and malleable when hot. Resistant to tempering up to roughly 500°C.
Used for the rebuilding of worn on buckets, hammers, hammer mills, blades, ploughshares, earthmoving and farming components, forestry tools and loading equipment. Good with Metal on metal wear.
Procedure will depend on the requirements of the weld deposit. Weaving will induce and will lower the cooling rate and the hardness. Multi layer welds can be achieved without cracking
Finely dispersed chrome carbides.
