E Fe Cr-A6 (Isoarc 463)

Characteristics
A highly alloyed chrome-carbide electrode, ISOARC 463 features a very stable arc, neat beads and easily controllable weld deposit. The slag is easily removed and bead contours are smooth. The weld deposit cannot be heat treated. Hardness is maintained at high temperatures.

Applications
ISOARC 463 is extensively used in the mining and mineral industries. Ideal for earth-moving parts, shovels, ore carriers, conveyors, mixer blades, bucket lips and teeth, crusher mills, chutes, scraper blades and all parts subjected to high abrasive wear. A variety of wear media can be handled - clay, sand, stone and rock.

Procedures
Pre-heating of the component is normally not required, but with very hard steels it is recommended to pre-heat to approx. 200°C. A maximum of three layers should be deposited and if a heavier build-up is required, buffer layers of ISOARC 166 are recommended. Use stringer bead technique and do not weave more than twice the diameter of the electrode.

Hypereutectic, with chromium hexagonal primary carbides in a ferritic-martensitic matrix

Redrying
Re-dry damp electrodes at 350°C for 1 hour.
