E308L-16
Characteristics
ISOARC 308L permits welding at the lowest possible amperage in flat, vertical, horizontal or
overhead positions Deposition is fast and smooth with low spatter and good slag detach-ability.
Applications
Use for joining or cladding of 18-8 chrome nickel stainless steel requiring similar deposit
as the base metal. Ideal for steel types 301, 302, 304, 305, 308, 321, 347.
Procedures
To avoid heat accumulation, keep a short arc and use low amperage with stringer bead technique.
Remove the slag after each pass. On DC equipment use positive polarity. On long seams, tack at
short intervals to reduce distortion

Stainless Steel Welding Electrodes
E312-16 - Isoarc 168
Characteristics
This highly versatile electrode is extensively used by the maintenance repair man. The high-alloy content, strength and elongation capabilities allow it to solve various problem steel joining applications. The specially formulated coating permits smooth, porosity free, dense deposits free from spatter. Undercutting is eliminated due to ease of welding and control of the arc. Deposit will take high polish.
Applications
ISOARC 168 is used extensively on repairs to shafts, pinions, springs, tools and dies, gear-teeth, machine parts, earthmoving equipment, agitator blades, pressure vessels and all welds requiring high stress loading capabilities.
Procedures
To avoid the accumulation of heat, use low amperage with stringer bead technique and a short arc. Intermittent welding can be used especially on high alloy steels. On tool steels, preheat to approximately 200 degrees. Light peening of welds will increase the tensile strength.
Redrying
Should electrodes become moist re-dry at 350°C for 1 hour

Stainless Steel Welding Electrodes
E316L-16 - Isoarc 316L
Characteristics
This electrode is characterised by a steady arc with very little spatter, high welding speed and easy slag removal. It produces a smooth concave weld surface in a horizontal fillet weld, which improves the resistance to fatigue. A flat weld surface is obtained in butt welds and this reduces grinding costs. ISOARC 316L is used for welding austenitic Cr-Ni-Mo steels of the ASTM 316 and 316L types. It can also be used for welding niobium and titanium stabilised steels, such as ASTM 316Ti and 316Nb in cases where the welded component will be operating at temperatures not exceeding 400°C. For higher temperatures a stabilised welding consumable should be used such as
Applications
ISOARC 316L is suitable as a buffer layer for hardfacing applications. It is widely used throughout the paper, chemical, fertilizer dairy, distillery and construction industries. Ideal for steel types 303, 304, 316, 317, 318, 321, 329. Corrosion resistance: is excellent for general, pitting and intercrystalline corrosion in chloride containing environments. Intended for severe service conditions, e.g. in dilute hot acids
Procedures
ISOARC 316L should be welded using a short arc or with its coating sliding along the workpiece. Direct current (positive polarity) is preferable. The best result is achieved by using an amperage in the upper part of the amperage range given, i.e. slightly higher than the amperage generally used for other electrode types. To ensure good penetration it is often advantageous to tack weld with a somewhat larger gap than that used when welding with rutile and basic electrodes..

Should electrodes become moist re-dry at 350° C for 1 hour

Stainless Steel Welding Electrodes
E307-16 - Isoarc 307
Descriptions
ISOARC 307 Stainless steel
Characteristics
This electrode is specially formulated to weld at low amperage to ensure minimum distortion. The ISOARC 307 has good ignition and re-ignition properties, good slag removal and minimal loss through spatter. The high recovery rate of 180% ensures fast deposition with a minimum dilution of the base metal.
Applications
ISOARC 307 is used on crossing and points, gears, hot dies, rolls, valves, shafts, gear-teeth, machine parts and heavily loaded welds. Because of its high heat resistant properties, it is ideal as a buffer layer prior to hot working hard-facing applications.
Procedures
Keep the arc short to medium. DO not weave more than three times the diameter of the electrode. Pre-heat up to 250 degrees on steels with poor weldability. Pre-heating is not required for other steels. Always use dry electrodes.
Redrying
Should electrodes become moist re-dry at 350° C for 1 hour
