Welding Position

Characteristics
ER316L is designed for welding austenitic stainless steel type 17 Cr 12 Ni 2.5 Mo or similar where high resistance to general and intercrystalline corrosion is required.

Procedures
Submerged arc welding (SAW) is normally performed using direct current positive polarity (DC+). This gives the best surface appearance and the highest penetration.
